Reject your rejections with acceptance
“Everything will be fine. Believe in what you desire from this world, from this life. Make sure you don’t waste it thinking all the negative things about you. You are always much more than what you think you’re capable of doing. Sure, they did that at your age. But isn’t their journey, life, and circumstances different from yours? Good things take time and so do your expectations from your life.”
“The “No’s” in my life have always proven to be so distracting that every time I want to throw away everything, run from everywhere but to a place where no one knows me and my rejections.”
This is what I say to myself when I feel dejected or undeserving of the things I desire the most. I ask myself to move on and to take steps even if they are tiny towards your dream. Continue to learn new things at every turn, grab experiences from every stone you uncover in the path. And when you’ll be there, close to your destination, it’ll all be worth it.
The “No’s” in my life have always proven to be so distracting that every time I want to throw away everything, run from everywhere but to a place where no one knows me and my rejections. “Rejections are good as they make you strong”, who said this and why. I don’t think I have ever felt strong after holding a placard of rejection over my head. I feel when you truly face the sword of rejection, there’s no hell of a way to make you feel better about yourself. Nothing, absolutely nothing can make you feel good.
But, there’s one thing that I have tried doing recently which has proven to be helpful. It’s a very underrated word, acceptance. Accepting your “oh, sorry you can’t make it” is what I have realized important to move ahead.
Accept your rejections. It happened not because you don’t deserve the chance or you are bad at it and don’t belong in your chosen field, but maybe because someone out there is more deserving than you. Well, accepting the latter isn’t very difficult for me so that has been my strategy for handling rejections. I accept that someone out there is better than me, so what I need is to work hard on myself.
Rejections are everywhere, your career, friendship, love, and family so whatever happens, be bold enough to accept it and move on. The universe is so big while your rejections are just a tiny part of your living.
This world we live in is very magical and the best you could do is keep trying, trying, and trying until you succeed. There’s an unspoken happiness in trying for the things you desire the most, so try on. Keep on trying if it means so much to you or move on if you don’t wish to try, either way, it has to be your choice and no one should hold that much influence in your life to make that decision for you.
“My momma always said, ‘Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you’re gonna get'."—from Forrest Gump
So, take a chance, or a jump, or whatever, just do what your heart says. Rejections are sure a part of life but it shouldn’t stop you from living.
